It’s an absolute honor to be recognized and nominated for the Basadi in Music Awards, especially since it highlights the women in the industry. As a musician, I find inspiration in the blend of my traditional roots and modern influences. This unique combination allows me to create soulful, jazzy music infused with the sounds of my heritage. While I refrain from being categorized in any particular genre, I do my best to remain true to my roots while incorporating relatable messages that everyone can connect with.
My latest album, SANE, holds a special place in my heart, as it was a form of therapy for me during a difficult time. I hope that its message of hope and healing reaches as many people as possible and empowers them to find their own sense of peace. Collaborating with some of the greatest names in the industry has taught me so much and helped me grow as a musician. My aim is to keep evolving my sound and creating quality music that resonates with my audience.
As a strong advocate for women’s empowerment, I founded the Women Rise Movement to support and educate women in the music industry. I strive to see women liberated and thriving in their respective fields. My passion for mental health advocacy also plays a huge role in my work, and I plan to continue advocating for this cause in the future.
Come join me at my next live shows on September 2nd at the Lyric Theatre and November 11th at the Playhouse Theatre in KZN. Stay tuned for more tour dates as well as new music collaborations. As a female artist, I am keen to serve as a role model for younger generations and demonstrate that anything can be achieved with perseverance and authenticity.
