SA, we have a star on our hands. Meet Najma Williams; a triple threat artist, hailing from QwaQwa, Freestate in South Africa. Najma may have honours in Fine Arts from the prestigious University of Pretoria, but her love for music has been her strongest passion since she was 12 years old.
Throw any R&B musician at her, and she’ll effortlessly incorporate their inspiration into her own music. Besides R&B inspiration from megastars like SiR, Jhene Aiko, and Masego, Najma’s life experiences, relationships and unforgettable moments inspire her music. When asked about the person who inspired her, she said none other than her dedicated mother who exemplified hard work while raising Najma.
But that’s not it – this multifaceted artist also creates breathtaking masterpieces in paintings; sculptures and drawings inspired by African landscapes and Wildlife. Her recent success includes being awarded the winner of the Rockstar Energy Drink South Africa Content Creator Hustle Fund Competition 2022.
