For years, the beauty industry has sold us the idea that flawless skin is something everyone should achieve. Scroll through social media and it is easy to believe that pores should be invisible, skin should always be smooth and every blemish needs to disappear. The truth is that real, healthy skin has texture, occasional breakouts and imperfections that are completely normal.

The rise of beauty filters has made it even harder to separate reality from edited images. Many people compare themselves to photos that have been enhanced with lighting, editing tools and filters without even realising it. This creates unrealistic expectations that can leave people feeling frustrated with their own skin.

Instead of asking whether our skin looks perfect, perhaps we should ask whether it is healthy. A consistent skincare routine, staying hydrated, protecting your skin from the sun and understanding your skin type often have a much bigger impact than chasing every new trend that appears online.

Confidence has never come from having perfect skin. It comes from accepting that healthy skin looks different for everyone. Maybe it is time we celebrated skin that is cared for instead of skin that simply looks flawless on a screen.
