Born in 1979 in South Africa, Themba Lukhele Nzimande is a multifaceted individual, known for being an author, entrepreneur, motivational speaker, budding musician, and philanthropist. Growing up in the humble town of Katlegong in the Greater Ekuruleni District of Gauteng Province, Themba successfully completed his high school education at Ntombizodwa High School in 1998.
As the eldest sibling in a family of three, Themba’s unrelenting pursuit of excellence across every aspect of his life is nothing short of impressive. Even amidst his hectic schedule, he treasures quality time with his loved ones and four children. Currently, he lives on the outskirts of Johannesburg in Gauteng Province, South Africa.
Bringing value to his educational journey, Themba didn’t stop at high school. He gained numerous certificates in life skills, leadership, and management before earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Leadership and Management from Logos University in the USA in 2017. Always striving for more, he is currently pursuing his Master’s degree in the same field at the same university.
Themba’s life story is both remarkable and inspiring. Despite spending seven years behind bars at Boksburg Correctional Centre and being released on parole after three and a half years, he persevered through his hardships. He wrote an inspirational autobiography titled “Through It All”, which chronicles his journey from a simple township boy facing struggles to overcoming adversity and staying motivated despite societal challenges. The book serves as invaluable advice for today’s youth to stay away from criminal activities, drugs and alcohol abuse; focusing on education instead.
Passionate about making a difference with today’s youth, Themba actively tours schools across the country as a motivational speaker. Using his inspiring book “Through it All”, he starts with schools in his hometown – Katlehong within Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality – to raise awareness about the consequences of crime and drug abuse while emphasizing the importance of education.
He also uses his life story, together with the truths he has learnt along the way to pave the way for those who are still young. His planning was to have covered 900 schools around South Africa, by the beginning of 2018 to, motivating and spreading awareness.
Themba has also been working hand in hand with our local government as he has been to different prisons around Gauteng, motivating inmates and giving them hope that there is light at the end of the tunnel, it’s all in changing one’s mindset. He has worked with the Department of Correctional Services, The City of Ekurhuleni Speakers Office, Department of Community Safety among others. He is also going around prisons, motivating and giving hope to inmates and plans to tour all 243 Prisons around the country as part of his Giving Back Tour.
