After capturing hearts across the country as Shoki on House of Zwide, Shalate Sekhabi has officially said her goodbyes to the character and the show that launched her into stardom.
In a heartfelt message shared on social media, Shalate expressed deep gratitude for what the role has meant to her. “It’s because of this character I’ve become a household name and got my start in this industry,” she wrote. “Shoki has changed my life beyond anything I could have ever imagined, and the love from the viewers, online and in person, has been the most amazing thing to come out of all of this.”
She acknowledged the emotional connection fans have had with her character, even thanking those who begged her not to leave. “To everyone who’s shown me love, and even those who begged me not to leave, thank you. Unfortunately, this is the end of an era.”
Shalate Sekhabi went on to thank the team behind House of Zwide, specifically Bomb Productions, etv, Thabo Boom, and Zwabheka, for believing in her and offering her a platform that would shape her early career. “Thank you for seeing something in me and giving me this massive opportunity that I will always be thankful for,” she added.
While the goodbye may be bittersweet, she shared her excitement for the storyline ahead, hinting that fans can expect more drama between Nkosi and Msizi as the show continues.
As she steps into a new chapter, we want to give Shalate her flowers. She brought Shoki to life with sincerity, depth, and authenticity, and her performance will be remembered for years to come.
